Design Impactful Biodynamic Courses
Professional Training in Anthroposophical Adult Education
Online, August 2026 - March 2027
with Ambra Sedlmayr
However, the problem might not be what people commonly think: that either students are not interested enough or that they don't know enough; don't have enough experience in Biodynamics to inspire students like the 'old ones' did. In my understanding, the real problem is that conventional adult education methods don't work. They are not based on a deep understanding of how humans learn. Fortunately, the realm of holistic adult education has developed a lot since the 1980s, and I have been able to put together a method for course design that creates courses in which students engage and participate from the outset and their learning is maximized. Facilitating such courses is highly rewarding as you see students grow before your eyes and are finally truly heard and appreciated for what you bring. The ‘Design Impactful Biodynamic Courses’ online training will guide you step by step on how to think about course development in order to enhance students’ learning and thereby cause real change in their lives. The training will enable you to:

This is what you are going to learn:
- The history of adult education and how to be a part of reforming an outdated teaching model;
- How to learn from your own work in a way that makes you become better, faster;
- How adults learn and how to use this knowledge in course design (understanding and applying the sevenfold learning process);
- Shift from content-focussed teaching to facilitating student-centred learning processes;
- To ignite students' intrinsic motivation to learn;
- How to engage students in their own learning, rather than just having them active or entertained;
- How to create safety for your students to be vulnerable and open up to true learning;
- How to plan your course in a way that dramatically increases application of what is being learned;
- To design powerful, conscious endings that give students clarity and courage to take the next steps;
- To communicate in a way that empowers students to become active in the real world.
This is how it is going to work:
- There will be 18 live online sessions of 1,5 hours each.
- For each session you will receive worksheets and slides that help you integrate the learning and put it into practice in the courses you are running. The worksheets are particularly valuable as they take you in an easy step-by-step way through course design, and they are yours to keep and use forever!
- There will be an optional live finale meeting on the 31st of January and 1st of February 2027 in Dornach, Switzerland, just before the international Biodynamic Agriculture Conference!!! (Those who cannot attend will have online finale sessions.)

I loooove learning...
I'm passionate about helping teachers of Biodynamic Agriculture learn cutting-edge, holistic adult education skills, so they can increase their impact. I believe that spreading insights from Anthroposophy is crucial at our current time to bring about positive change and impulses of cultural renewal. Therefore, I'm keen to support people who are teaching Anthroposophy, to do it in a way that is aligned with the Anthroposophical understanding of the human being and of human learning. I'm a certified Transformational Facilitator, with several trainings in adult education and course design. I'm also an Anthroposophical counsellor, and draw a lot on my understanding of human development and empowerment from that profession. I've learned to facilitate the 'Destiny learning workshops' developed by Coenraad van Houten back in 2013 and have reverse engineered his way of thinking for course design and merged it with best-practices from humanistic coaching and spiritual entrepreneurship. I'm also a Biologist and Ph.D. in Sustainable Agriculture. Ever since 2011 - when I started working for the Section for Agriculture at the Goetheanum - I have been studying and promoting Biodynamic Agriculture. Since 2017, I run my own business based in Portugal, where I offer counselling and multiple courses to help people develop soft skills to realise their lives' purpose. I'm particularly proud of having translated the 'Agriculture Course' into European Portuguese together with my friends Renata Almeida and Rui Leal. |
